Exspensive news - Raft foundation has to be put in as the soil is very silty and sandy...Raft begun on tuesday the 26th august 2008. Stone (4 inch down) added to site...dug out to 2 metres in dept...Site very damp after consistent rain for nearly 3 weeks in august..
A raft foundation involves putting in copious amounts of hard 4inch rock into a site and compressing it every 8 inches and keep doing it up to ground level..then get wooden shuttering build to the shap of the floor...add lots of steel and more stone and then pour in concrete...Once that is done you can start footing blocks up around it , then plumber comes in then fill with more concrete... not nice on the pocket but has to be done.
