Blockwork completed on monday 24th nov 2008. Arch put in and all sills in.

Myself , wesley and brian merne begin chasing walls downstairs..
Put in box outside and mains cable through wood....All wall sockets and cable trains are complete on downstairs wall..Blocklayer to finish today-monday 24th....Roofer to come in next.

25ft steel joist added to balcony area..wood feeding into it...better support..

First floor ceiling

First floor timber in except for 24 ft steel joist..which has to be fit this week Steel joist will take strain off timbers that go over 20 feet , thus reducing the span. Will hopefully eliminate sagging in years to come...Awaiting steel lentil aswell for front door...9feet wide.

Floor poured on thurs 26th sept, foundation stage now complete and ready for blockwork to begin.. At last we are going up instead of down.

Plumber - in before floor is floated

Plumber installing pipes today ....Radon barrier and all insulation applied tuesday 23rd september....And plumbing put in on wednesday 24th of september. Floor to be poured on thursday 25th september while weather is fine..Supposed to be dry till till monday...

Blocks delivered to site today for the footings to begin..Blocklayer..from myshall... 500 blocks delivered at 10.30am wed 17th sept

Raft Foundation - concrete in

Wednesday the 10th sept..concrete poured and shuttering removed 2 days after. Clean finish by martin moran and co.. Little gap left on edge for footings to fit in..Next step is footings ,plumber and more stone then float the floor.

Timber shuttering in place..steel to go in next and then pour concrete. Brian Merne on site just keeping an eye on wesley in the track machine.

All wooden shuttering in place, 24 steel mesh and 30 steel chairs bought for assembly and concrete and stone to follow.

Stone in the site..4inch down stone - Rolled down every 8 inches...up to 30 loads of stone with approx 23 tonnes in each lorry load.. 9 euro a tone..Also smaller grain stone added to bind it and rolled in. Weather has picked up thank god. Next stage is concrete, steel and shuttering off.

Raft foundation

Exspensive news - Raft foundation has to be put in as the soil is very silty and sandy...Raft begun on tuesday the 26th august 2008. Stone (4 inch down) added to site...dug out to 2 metres in dept...Site very damp after consistent rain for nearly 3 weeks in august..

A raft foundation involves putting in copious amounts of hard 4inch rock into a site and compressing it every 8 inches and keep doing it up to ground level..then get wooden shuttering build to the shap of the floor...add lots of steel and more stone and then pour in concrete...Once that is done you can start footing blocks up around it , then plumber comes in then fill with more concrete... not nice on the pocket but has to be done.

Had to get pump to dry out site before stone is applied. Stone supplied from kilcarrig quarries.

8th friday ...August ...add stone to site to entrance of site to allow lorrys access....meet foundations guy on saturday at site and meet blocklayer tuesday....Planting of leylandes trees to the left of site entrance...30 trees planted, 4 euro per tree
